Is your business still using foam fire extinguishers containing PFOA chemicals?
The deadline to phase out foam fire extinguishers containing PFOA chemicals is fast approaching — 04 July 2025.
Under the Stockholm Convention and EU law, PFOA chemicals, commonly found in certain firefighting foams, are being restricted due to serious risks to human health and the environment. It’s time to take action — and we’re here to help.
What you need to know:
- PFOA foam use is restricted and must contain less than 0.025 mg/kg to remain compliant.
- You can continue using existing units (installed pre-July 2020) only under strict conditions — but only until July 2025.
- Improper use or disposal could lead to legal and environmental consequences.
What can you do?
- Replace with safer alternatives: water, water mist, or wetting agent extinguishers.
- Test your extinguishers for PFOA levels.
- Get proof from your supplier that replacements are PFOA-free.
We are here to support your transition, with practical guidance and training to help keep your team safe and compliant.
